Granada Hills Charter High School Acquires Northridge Pinecrest Campus
A press release reposted several times on Facebook has certainly sparked my interest: Granada Hills Charter High School has acquired the six-acre campus of Pinecrest School in Northridge. GHCHS has assured the school its current lease through 2014-15, but after that, it’s hard not to get too excited about the possibilities. Will Granada continue with the K-5 the campus currently runs as a charter? Will they expand to the K-8 that Pinecrest usually operates? Both are distinct possibilities as would be simply running a middle school on the campus–a 6th through 8th grade campus to extend their mission to the next lower grade levels, and ease the transition for their students.
My gut tells me this will be their 9th grade campus, allowing them to expand their enrollment on the main campus, although the construction will take longer. As soon as I know more, I will post.
